It's now feeling very autumnal, and our catches in Wolvercote, Oxon, have fallen in numbers accordingly - on the 10th, we had 36 individuals of 17 species. Accordingly, there haven't been many mysteries in recent nights, but I post one, from 7th August, below: the only guess we can make is that it might be a Straw Underwing, but it doesn't entirely seem to fit. Any thoughts? Steve and Xander Goddard.

Both are Small Square-spots Steve.
ReplyDeleteOh, well -- I wasn't particularly confident of Straw Underwing. Many thanks, Peter.
