Vine's Rustic? and question re when to trap

From last night - I had two greyer looking Rustics - I've not had any Rustic / Uncertains for a while - are these 2nd generation Vine's Rustics?

Re when to trap - I know temperature, cloud cover, lack of wind and moon are best - does cloud cover for example outweigh temperature?

  1. Open up the wings Mark. In Vines they are pure white, in the Rustic they are muddy. Yours does look like a good candidate for Vines. The second generation should be appearing about now. Rustic is all but over.
Cloud cover does 3 things. It keeps up the humidity, it stops the temperature dropping too fast and it makes the night darker. Is cloud better than temperature? Depends on the time of year, but in August, the threshold for moths flying seems to be around 10 degrees, below which you may as well go back to bed.
