Nearly squashed


The warmer night brought my first Merveille du Jour of the year, always a welcome moment. But it had a narrow escape. I was going to sit on a garden chair to go through the eggboxes but luckily plonked the lamp and its holder there instead. When I was packing away after finding a decent haul of moths - some below - the Merveille was sitting where I would have sat.  Martin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon
