A matter of a pinion...or two

Following the recent prompt to look at ivy flowers after dusk, I was pleased to find two species of Pinion, Tawny and Pale, feeding in close proximity to each other on my ivy last week.

Tawny Pinion

Pale Pinion

Not being familiar with either species, I initially wondered whether the Pale Pinion might be a faded Tawny--until I checked the Field Guide that is!  iRecord told me that Tawny Pinion was new for the 10 km square and it is apparently uncommon in Bucks these days, so a nice garden record.
