Unknown micro

I'm trying to get caught up having had various computer problems.

This one is from last Wednesday wing length 7mm.

Also a Ypsolopha parenthesella I think which would be a new garden record.

The Yellow-line Quakers have got going in the last few nights with this rather well marked individual catching my eye.

  1. Hi Andy,
I'm not at all sure about your micro but I wonder if it might be Anthophila fabriciana? In the past I've had one or two in the trap on their last legs like this one and ended up shipping them off to Peter, being somewhat embarrassed when the results came back. When they aren't sitting as you'd expect to see them it can be quite difficult to work out what they are! Ypsolopha parenthesella is correct, a very nice-looking individual.

  2. That's a striking individual of Yellow-line Quaker. Those that I get here generally don't vary much at all but this season I've noticed quite a range in both ground colour and markings.

  3. I think you may well be right about the first. I'll put it in the next batch for Peter. It won't be the first time I've been embarrassed. A lot of the Yellow-line Quakers I've had this year have been very orange and have required a close look.
