I've been getting alot of different colour forms of Lunar Underwing - can someone confirm this one that looks a little different is indeed a Lunar Underwing?
Also seeing late broods here, Ruby Tiger, Riband Wave, Shuttle Shaped Dart, Small Dusty Wave, Common Wainscot.

If you can take a peek at the hindwings, you'll see the lunar dark band where it gets its name. The dark blackish dash up near the apex differentiates it from Beaded Chestnut, which, if it has a dash, is "usually" browner (very occasionally blackish). The Beaded Chestnut is also appearing now, so yes it is a Lunar Underwing in one of its many forms of disguise.
ReplyDeletethanks Peter. I had my first beaded chestnut a few days ago amongst the Brown Spot Pinions (incl one fulva pallida)
