Another light left at COAM last night added a few more NFY, including this Dark Spectacle:
and this Map-winged Swift:
plus Purple Bar, Tinea semifulvella, Pandemis cinnamomeana, Evergetis forficalis, Tachystola acroxantha and Double Square-spot.
Also, I'd appreciate some guidance on these:
Dave Morris, Chalfont St Giles
My suggestions are Elachista argentella, ?Nemapogon clematella (would like to see a better picture), Olindia schumacherana and Taleporia tubulosa.
ReplyDeleteIs number 2 an Argyresthia?
ReplyDeleteThat was my first thought too - the head looks right for one but the wing shape is very odd. Maybe it is just the way it is sitting. Definitely needs a better picture, Dave!
DeleteThanx! I had wondered about the Olindia, but I've only seen it with the white all the way across.
ReplyDeleteI did retain some of these, but I've left them at the museum; I'll check tomorrow if #2 is one of them.
No 2 looks a lot like Argyresthia curvella.
ReplyDeletePicked up my bits this morning, and I do still have this moth, so I'll try to compare it against the various suggestions...
ReplyDeleteRight, it certainly matches Argyresthia curvella, so unless there are any confusion species or it needs a chop, I'll let it go! (Or not, I have a lot of apple trees in my garden...)
