Which Pug??

 Hi there,

I'm trying to make this into a Brindled Pug, but am confused by the white spots and the lack of a prominent central elongated black spot. But then, I'm easily confused . . . . and not only by pugs!!

Thanks, David

  1. Hi David,
I'm sure that's still a Brindled Pug despite it being darker than usual and with those unusually clear tornal spots. The slit-like discal spot with a small area of whitish beyond it is clear on the right wing at least, as are the usual series of wedges.

  2. Many thanks. I'm now going to chance my arm with an early claim of a Common Pug - in my next post!

  3. Hmm...! Now that you've put it in my mind, I suppose I might be accused of trying to shoe-horn the one above into what I'd expect it to be. A rather early Common Pug might just fit it too (that would certainly explain the white tornal spots). See what others have to say.
