Another Epiphyas postvittana?

This micro from last night appeared very different by torchlight but on closer examination the apparently pointed wings are actually the hindwings protruding. It is just over 10mm in length. I suspect just another Epiphyas postivittana?

  1. Hi Andy, it's quite worn but Acleris sparsana is the most likely candidate for me.

    1. I have had quite a few this year and it certainly looks a possibility.

  2. Hi Andy,
A.sparsana crossed my mind too but the fore-wings do appear to be malformed (as are the hind-wings, presumably) so it is difficult to be sure. There also seems to be some reflection from that rather bright background!

    1. I'll try to get a better photo once it has settled. It was rather active and the only photo I managed was in the lid of the pot.

  3. I agree with Dave its a malformed postvittana, assuming that the colour is reasonably life-like in spite of the yellow glare.
