Hi, any guidance or thoughts on the Oak Hook-Tip in the picture? Although am wary, i responded to a media post of current south coast and in particular Guernsey reports of Watsonalla Uncinula (Spiny Oak Hook-Tip) a moth of continental Europe, by checking mine. My most recent Penn garden moth of the 10th Aug, appears to exhibit the narrower white & black tips. Its not like the wider black marked specimens that i have on record. If this is, or is a candidate, I'm not sure how to record as I failed to locate an individual classification on iRecord, so it would be an in-the-margins note of binaria presently.
1. After the correspondence about Udea fulvalis, I had this on 9 August in my Oxford garden. I think it is Udea fulvalis but would welcome confirmation or other ideas.
2. This small tortricid I could not identify. Prominent white oval patch on the trailing edge should make it easy, plus the ginger 'epaulettes'. Any suggestions welcome.
This was on an electricity pole at Otmoor today (7th). Can I assume it is a Red Underwing? The notice next to it precluded closer examination.

Have been puzzling over this one trapped on Thursday evening 3rd August in Whitecross Green Wood. Looks as if it should be obvious, but the only thing I can come up with is a form of Cnephasia? Any suggestions? The photos are taken against standard 'wide-lined' paper!

Striking species - Ethmia quadrillella to mv, Denham 4-5 August. Martin tells me it is new to Bucks, although there are many scattered records across southern England.

A rainy afternoon's catching up with identification hasn't resulted in any progress on identifying these 2 from recent moth trappings in Jordans.
I have tried to identify this moth. The sighting was on 2nd July 2023 and the wing length is more than 15mm and less than 20mm. The closest I can make it out to be is Lacanobia thalassina/Pale-shouldered Brocade. Is the basal patch pale enough? I'm not sure. Does anyone have other suggestions, please?

After 30 years of fairly regular trapping, it's getting harder with every year for me to pick up new larger moth species here in Sonning, so I've had to wait until August to add to my parish list this year. Worth the wait though - a beautiful Mocha in the trap last night. I'm steadily working on the micros and had my first ever specimen of Udea fulvalis in the trap recently.
Udea fulvalis
Last year I had a possible Hoary Footman in my trap. This one appeared today on the kitchen window! I still have the specimen - alive. Is anyone interested in seeing it? I haven't managed to tease apart the wings to check the hind wing colour, but the forewings are very pale.
Many thanks
David
Two from my 28 July session that I would love ideas about:
1. This seems faded and with few characters: ?a wainscot, but rather short-winged...
2. I think a Cydia? I wonder about C. servillana but not at all sure.
