Hello Andrew, The first is difficult because there's no size reference, but I'd say it was most likely to be a worn-out Nut-tree Tussock but it is really too far gone to be sure. The second is Spilonota ocellana.
Thank you very much, Dave. The top one was similar in length to a common wainscot but seemed slightly fatter in the thorax and the wing then seemed relatively shorter. I have not recorded nut tree tussock from the garden so far, so I fear that this one will remain a mystery. It was obviously very worn. Still getting to grips with the numerous Tortricids so most grateful for another clear id.
