I have tried to identify this moth. The sighting was on 2nd July 2023 and the wing length is more than 15mm and less than 20mm. The closest I can make it out to be is Lacanobia thalassina/Pale-shouldered Brocade. Is the basal patch pale enough? I'm not sure. Does anyone have other suggestions, please?

Hello Isobel,
ReplyDeleteIt isn't Pale-shouldered Brocade, although I see where you are coming from. I'd say that it was quite a strongly-marked example of Dusky Brocade (Apamea remissa) which is an exceedingly variable species.
This is an under-sized Dark Arches
