IDs please

Three tired out moths this morning.

Sorry about the first picture, I opened the pot and it was gone. Maybe a faded Garden Rose Tortrix or something else?

The second I'm guessing is a knackered November agg.?

The third a tired Yellow Line Quaker? Or maybe my first Brick?

  1. Hi Mark,
The first one is 'something else', Acleris sparsana.
Second I'd agree with your ID and the third looks like a worn Brick to me, but see what others think.

  2. Hi Mark, I agree with all of Nigel's comments. The bottom one is indeed a Brick. You can still pick out bits of the red reticulation and from what's left of the outer cross-line you can see that it is quite jagged and not the smooth straight line of Yellow-line Quaker. You may also have noticed a difference in behaviour - in my experience Brick becomes very restless very quickly while Yellow-line Quaker will just sit there and play dead.

  3. hi both, thanks for this. Yea, a new moth. Yes I noticed it was lively, I nearly lost it as I was expecting it to be docile.
