Small Brindled Beauty

A slow start to the year here in Chorleywood and I seem to have missed out completely on Early Moth and  Spring Usher.  However a Small Brindled Beauty in the trap last night, not seen here since 2013, together with Oak Beauty, March Moth, Hebrew Character and Chestnut.

  1. Even taking in to account the deep freeze of the last two weeks, my impression is that Early Moth has not done particularly well locally this year. I have four records (7 moths) from three sites, whereas in 2017 I managed 16 records (26 moths) from the same three sites. Only two of them have appeared in the garden this year, whereas last year I had 16.
