Vapourer Eggs

I made a start at searching the hedgerows of BBOWT's Bernwood Meadows reserve this afternoon after our Brown Hairstreak egg hunt there last Saturday had to be cancelled due to the snow.  Amongst today's finds was this batch of Vapourer eggs, laid as usual on the flightless female's cocoon (apologies for the grotty phone-camera image).  What a sedentary existence - it is a wonder she hasn't evolved to manage without legs as well as wings!
