I am attempting to decipher some more leaf mines found in the garden and would welcome thoughts on these two. They are obviously relatively old and I hope to find some more active ones over the coming weeks, but here goes:
In hazel, I think the two mines above are from Stigmella microtheriella.
The four shots above are two different mines from above and below in a variety of viburnam lantana. I think they are from Phyllonorycter lantanella. There were four or five of these mines on a small shrub.

ReplyDeleteThe top one on hazel does look good for Stigmella microtheriella. If the plant is correctly identified for the second one then it must be Phyllonorycter lantanella although that's not a species I've seen. There are only about a dozen records for Bucks, all of mines and mostly from the south of the county, so you could score a few points by finding an active mine and rearing it through to get the first adult for VC24!
