A couple of caterpillars

 Not my observation, but I was asked to comment on the ID of these two. The first from Stowe NT, looks rather like Gypsy Moth and the second from Boarstall Decoy might be Brindled Green. If the first is indeed Gypsy Moth, it will be new for this part of Bucks

    Hello Phil,
    Yes to Gypsy Moth. That one looks to be fairly sizeable, probably final instar, whereas those that I've been rearing (see the report on 4th May, and mine are definitely Gypsy Moth too) are currently only about 1cm in length. As to the other one, you could be correct but there are rather too many similar green caterpillars for me to be sure!
