Am I correct in identifying this as Anania perlucidalis ?
If so how unusual is it? The UK moth website suggests it is scarce with few records whereas the Micro moth field guide just classes it as local with an expanding range.
It was one of a fairly small catch in my garden trap last night.

Hi Andy, yes that is indeed perlucidalis and, contrary to some websites and field guides, the species is now quite common locally. I've had it in my own garden trap on seven occasions so far this year.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting. I assume it is a species that has spread and become more abundant in recent years. It is certainly not one that would be easy to overlook or wrongly identify.
