Hello Steve, you don't give a size reference for your noctuid but it looks to me like Small Clouded Brindle. Anania (Opsibotys) fuscalis is certainly correct.
...and what was the third query, or do you have trouble counting on Sunday mornings?!!
Aha - I see you've added the picture now! It is a caddis (Mystacides longicornis).
