Thrupp seems to do really well for hawk-moths, certainly far better than my garden - I'm very envious! While I can usually expect to see all the major players each year, the only ones I ever get in any numbers are Poplar and the two Elephants. The rest appear just the once if I'm lucky.
I think they must know how much I want to see them. The Pine is the one I really like as we never got them in Leeds. I am very optimistically siting the trap in our (flowering) potato patch at the moment, after the Great Kirtlington Death's Head affair two years ago.
