Garden Moths

Don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I had my first Cydalima perspectalis in the garden last night. A neighbour has a box hedge round his garden; for how much longer, I wonder?

Also NFY were Dusky Thorn, Mottled Rustic and Diamond-back Moth plus first Flame and Dun-bar in the garden this year.

Also, I had two almost identically knacked noctuids; if anyone can id this from the photo, that'd be great :)

  1. I wonder if the knackered moth might be a Bordered Straw. Not conclusive, but the dark triangle towards the wing tip looks interesting

  2. The hind wing would have a dark bar towards the tip

  3. Thanks Adam. Unfortunately, a cat or magpie knocked everything during the course of the day, so the moths were gone when I got home. They didn't reappear overnight either.
