I wondered if it might be a Yarrow Pug? Or would it need closer inspection to be sure of the id?

Possible Yarrow Pug?
I had a fairly large pug attracted to the kitchen window last night. I noticed the attractive underwings initially.
The forewing measures 13mm, and this is the top view.
I wondered if it might be a Yarrow Pug? Or would it need closer inspection to be sure of the id?

You could well be correct, Steve, but its scarce status would certainly prompt me to get it inspected, especially if it was the first for a site.
