Oak Rustic

Trapping has been a bit disappointing lately so I've only been putting it out on likely favourable nights. This morning the trap only held LYU and LBAM. However, on a window frame was this, which I think is Oak Rustic. Presumably the strong south winds had blown it to North Bucks.

  1. Hello Janice,
Yes, that's a nice Oak Rustic and I'm sure will be the furthest north that it has been recorded in our three counties. It has been spreading very slowly for a number of years now but doesn't seem to have established itself in any numbers locally yet, not that we are aware of anyway (its flight period of Oct/Nov co-incides with some people putting their traps away for the winter so it could be under-recorded). As you say, in the current weather conditions this could easily be a migrant from further afield.
