This appeared on the house wall rather than in the actinic trap this morning. I think it is a Juniper Carpet but there don't seem to be many recorded in Bucks. I was thinking of potting it up but the rising sun hit the wall and it flew off.

Hello Janice,
ReplyDeleteYes, that is Juniper Carpet, a very nice record. The moth is very thinly spread across our region and is difficult to find, even in those areas of the Chilterns where wild juniper still flourishes.
Thank you, Dave. There are plenty of conifers in nearby gardens or perhaps it was a migrant in the southerly winds.
