This was a nice surprise at about 11pm last night on the house wall near the trap here at Westcott. It was too high to make out what it was, other than being a large triangular moth, although obviously not quite big enough for Old Lady or Red Underwing which seem to be the usual candidates here for sitting at the first floor level. I had to get a ladder out to get a closer view and thankfully it stayed put during the potting process (...and I didn't fall down!). It had received some bird or bat damage with a large chunk taken out of both hind-wings, but was still a very welcome visitor.

Climbing up a ladder late at night! It's a wonder the local neighbourhood watch didn't spring into action and send the flashing blues around.
