I think this plume is perhaps a rather dark E. monodactlya, rather than a candidate for an out of season Stenoptilia pterodactyla (Brown Plume). One of only three moths to two traps on a rather cold night in my frost hollow of a Stoke Goldington garden.
Hi Keith,
ReplyDeleteThat is indeed just a dark-looking monodactyla. It seems to have been particularly abundant this spring and has been appearing very regularly here since the beginning of March. Before this current cold snap I had eight on one night (28th March), the highest count I've ever had to one light, and they varied quite considerably in ground colour.
