Help with IDs please?

A couple from Garsington, Oxford earlier this week. I think I have Epiblema scutulana and Eudonia lacustrata?

  1. Hello Mark,
Your tortrix is either Notocelia trimaculana or Notocelia rosaecolana. I'd suggest trimaculana based on the number of costal strigulae and what I can see of the wing fold, although they can sometimes be difficult to tell apart. In my experience N.trimaculana is by far the more common of the two locally and I've seen lots of them already this year but, as yet, no candidates for rosaecolana. You might be correct with the scoparid but it is rather poorly marked which is often more suggestive of Eudonia mercurella. It is one I'd prefer to see critically examined if you want a definitive ID.
