Catches here at
Westcott, Bucks have been rather mundane over the past few nights, the variety having dropped and the numbers of individual moths having fallen, although the Water Veneer
Acentria ephemerella is trying single-handedly to keep up the totals (199 of them last night!). The only species new for the year have been
Caloptilia semifascia,
Agriphila selasella (both 14th) and
Argyresthia semifusca,
Achroia grisella (both 16th). The Lesser Wax Moth
Achroia grisella is hardly the most exciting of moths but was welcome nonetheless because it is completely new for the garden list. I'm still getting the occasional migrant species here but nothing of particular interest, last night's contribution being Dark Sword-grass and yet another Bordered Straw.

I would have been pleased to get these two in my Aylesbury trap last night, Dave - just the usual native species, underwings, rustics, etc.
