Mursley moths

Nothing very stunning in the trap last night, but this lovely Red Underwing was on the fence nearby this morning. It seems to have much stronger markings than the illustrations in my books. Could it be one of the rarer ones?
And two that have me puzzled (though no doubt I'll kick myself when I see the comments!)
Many thanks
Mick

  1. I'm sure that is Red Underwing, Mick. The markings can vary in their intensity quite considerably. The second picture appears to be the micro Endotricha flammealis while the third is either a very worn moth or has been washed out rather by your flash but I can't make it into anything other than Red Twin-spot Carpet!

    1. Thanks Dave. I should have got the micro - I can see it clearly now.
      Cheers
