Scalloped Hook-tip and 2 micros for confirmation

Well, I can't match Dave W's gorgeous Tissue, but new for my garden list last night was a Scalloped Hook-tip.

I have 2 micros for checking. I think this first one is Prays fraxinella.

The second one I am not quite so confident about, but possibly Cydia splendana? The fw measures 6mm.

  1. Hi Steve, Scalloped Hook-tip is a nice garden record. The second picture is indeed the normal form of Prays fraxinella. The tortrix I'm not sure about - it doesn't look right for splendana to me and anyway seems a bit on the small side for that species. Nothing else springs readily to mind so hopefully someone else will have some inspiration!

    1. Thanks Dave. I thought the tortrix might be a bit tricky. I still have it, so it is going in the freezer.
