The micro above stumped me although it should be obvious. It is 6mm silvery -grey with a yellow / gold head and obvious dark markings at the tornus. Any ideas anyone?
It is good to see numbers increasing as with mainly hedgerow and garden / shade trees here the volume of moths is pretty low at either end of the season!
Hi Andrew, unfortunately that's not really the best of angles to get an ID from. The shape from above looks kind of Mompha-ish but that may not be reliable unless it has lost most of its scales. I had my first example of Elachista canapennella in the garden the night before last and the colouring of the male is vaguely similar to what you have there, although 6mm is perhaps a bit on the large side.
