Pug and micros

I could do with some assistance with the following from last night.

I wondered if this could be a melanic Brindled Pug?

4mm in length

4mm in length. Unfortunately got squashed in processing.

5.5mm in length.

Having had a dearth of micros eight species new for the year turned up last night!

Andy Newbold, Sibford Ferris, Oxon.

  1. Hi Andy, I imagine the Pug is Brindled but darker/melanic examples can be a nightmare to ID successfully without dissection. The middle two look to me like the same Phyllonorycter species but there's quite a choice for that particular pattern. Finally, the last one is a Parornix which would need the chop to determine species. Not very helpful, am I ?!!

  2. Thank you. I will retain the micros. I will post another couple of photos later. It has taken a long time to go through Monday night's catch.
