I have not seen one of these before and confess to struggling a bit to put a name to it. Happy to be corrected and interested to know how frequent these are. I’m just off the A4 in Burnham, Berks, but in the Bucks recording area.
Hi Russell, yes that is a migrant Scarce Bordered Straw. There are approaching 70 records of it for VC24 Bucks but it is by no means an annual visitor this far inland so your sighting is good news. More than half of the Bucks records are from 2006 which is the last time it invaded the UK in huge numbers.
