Sitochroa palealis

While carrying out a BC butterfly count this afternoon I disturbed this Sitochroa palealis resting on a lavender bush. A first record for the garden and while there isn't any wild carrot growing locally, there is some wild parsnip Pastinaca sativa in the meadow that could be the host plant.

  1. Nice one - they're usually very uncooperative to photographers in the field because of their tendency to hang upside down from the vegetation!
