Good Night!

Things were closer to where they should be for mid-July with 105 species recorded in the garden last night.  Pride of place amongst them was taken by the Maple Prominent below, which is completely new for the garden list.  It came as a bit of a surprise too.  I've seen the moth sparingly in the Chilterns and in the very north of Bucks but have yet to record it anywhere in this corner of the county, including Bernwood Forest, even though there's no shortage of field maple.

Other new-for-year moths last night included Epermenia chaerophyllella, Acleris holmiana, Apotomis capreana, Hypsopygia (Orthopygia) glaucinalis, Lesser Cream Wave, Shaded Broad-bar, White Satin, Round-winged Muslin, Lesser Yellow Underwing & Least Yellow Underwing.
