...these are puzzling me. The top one looks like a Flounced Rustic but isn't it a bit early for that? Thanks in anticipation. Martin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon
Not sure about any of those, Martin! I'm not convinced that the top one is Flounced Rustic but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility on date alone - 22nd July (2005) is my personal earliest and we're almost there now.
Martin, are you sure these photos aren't from a while ago, they seem familiar and am pretty sure they show two Large Nutmegs and a Rustic Shoulder-knot (bottom picture), all in very good condition and both of which haven;t been seen for some time now. If they are caught recently then they are very odd records.
Many thanks all belatedly, much appreciated as ever. Sorry Marc, I should have added that these are 'backlog' moths - there are so many about at the moment - and date from late June (I think - am trying to date original photos which I cropped). All v best M

ReplyDeleteJust looking in the Bucks database, there seems to be a regular start up date of July 29th for Flounced Rustic with a few exceptions.
ReplyDeleteThe top one looks like a Large Nutmeg to me.
