Spoke too soon!

A mere 47 species visited the garden trap last night but because one of them was the (slightly worn) chap shown below it suddenly became an excellent night, certainly enough to lift the spirits.

Garden Tiger, Westcott 12th July

Usually they're very co-operative for photography but this one refused to show his gorgeous hind-wings until about to get airborne, so the second is a rather blurred image before he headed off towards my study window for the umpteenth time, but still gives the impression!  As mentioned in my comment to Andy Newbold's post yesterday, I haven't seen a 'live' Garden Tiger since 2011 and the last time one appeared here in the garden was eight years ago, so this was definitely a red-letter day.
