A small group of us carried out some socially-distanced leaf-mining at BBOWT's Dancersend nature reserve in Bucks yesterday. A very good variety of mines were on offer and many of them still had active larvae, including the four Ectoedemia species shown below:
Ectoedemia rubivora on bramble, 17th October
Ectoedemia angulifasciella on dog rose, 17th October
Ectoedemia atricollis on hawthorn, 17th October
Ectoedemia minimella on birch, 17th October
Our searching wasn't limited to mines (nor just lepidoptera for that matter). A few caterpillars were seen as well, including the following:
Knot Grass on bramble, 17th October
Nut-tree Tussock on beech, 17th October
Coxcomb Prominent on hazel, 17th October
