Acleris cristana?

Am I right in thinking this is Acleris cristana? Not sure whether the dark patch in the middle is a raised scale tuft, or just a dark patch, but the overall shape looks better for this species rather than A. hastiana. Came to light last night in oak woodland.

  1. Hi Phil,
That is, as you suggest, a very smart example of Acleris cristana. The scale tufts do get worn and by this time after hibernation can sometimes be almost non-existent.
