A few new moths for my year list - in the garden,
Garden and
Spruce Carpets and
Angle Shades, plus this micro which I'm thinking is one of the
Ypsolopha species, but not finding an easy match.
Also, if anyone can confirm this pug for me...?
The Burial Park trap added
Marbled Brown and
Chocolate Tip, the latter also being new for the site.

Hi Dave,
ReplyDeleteYpsolopha mucronella and looks like Common Pug to me. BW, Marc
Hello Dave, I agree with Marc. Ypsolopha mucronella for the micro (a spindle feeder in its classic pose, always nice to see). The pug is probably Common but if you want to be sure with any melanic examples then Peter is your man...
ReplyDeleteAlso agree with Marc and Dave, a melanic form.
ReplyDeleteThanks all.
ReplyDeleteI had seen mucronella and dismissed it as being (a) a little out of season and (b) it not being very common and (c) I'm probably about 1/2 mile - maybe more - from the nearest spindle tree.
Cheers
Dave
