purple moths

This unusual moth turned up on the outside of the trap last night in my garden in Beaconsfield. In certain lights it had an overall purple sheen. Fw 20mm. An ideas? And does the dreaded Box Moth have a melanic form?


I also had the purple form of the Barred Sallow.

    I have just googled Box Moth and it is the brown variety of that moth.

    As far as I'm aware that is the first of the dark form for Bucks.
