I am diligently sorting out my National Moth Night records and wonder if the above is a White-speck; new for me, if so.
I'm also perplexed (as ever) by the quartet below. I think they are all Common or maybe Dark Marbled Carpets but cannot be sure. Help much appreciated as ever. Martin Wainwright, Thrupp, Oxon
Hi Martin, it does look like a White-speck, though I've never seen one. I suspect that this is a good record for Oxon. All the carpets look like Common Marbled.
ReplyDeleteHi Martin, looks good to me too - nice one! It is one of the less common regular migrants (only four previous records for Bucks that I'm aware of - don't know about Oxon but probably a similar situation!).
ReplyDeleteYes, that's a White-speck and yes there are are very few VC 23 records. Can't tell you precisely how many at the moment unfortunately. There should be more migrants tonight. Yes all Common Marbled Carpet. Dark Marbled very unlikely in October in this part of the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much all, v much obliged. I will light the trap again tonight. Thanks again for your migrants tip the other day, too, Martin. Hope others find interesting examples as well.
