I'm afraid I can't be sure about the plume from that photo, Andrew. It could simply be Emmelina monodactyla which is around in numbers at the moment (they are quite variable in colour, from light grey to brown).
Shame we can't clearly see the spurs on the hind leg clearly, that would clinch it.
Thank you both - if one of the other photos shows the hind spurs, I will post it (will be back at home later this week).
