A few more for ID please.

First off, one of the scops, the white lines are less obvious than most of the E. mercurella that I've been getting. I don't think it's E. lacustrata because it doesn't have the central pale smudge, I was thinking S.ambigua, but maybe it's S.pyrella?

The other one I got from odd angles and it's obviously a bit knackered, maybe Small Rufous?

  1. Hello Mark,
I think your scoparid is almost certainly Eudonia mercurella which seems to be having a very good season. For me the noctuid is the wrong shape for Small Rufous but the photos are not taken from a helpful angle. More likely is one of the plainer forms of Cloaked Minor or maybe even a dark Mere Wainscot - do you have any other images?

  2. hi Dave, no those the only photos I have. I think your suggestion of Cloaked Minor is probably the correct one.
