I've just got round to signing up for the blog (it's only taken me 6 years!). Anyway, I caught a dark sword-grass in my garden in Marston a couple of nights ago and was wondering if it's one of those immigrant moths that is now resident or partially resident. A very handsome moth, despite being brown!

ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blog. It is difficult to know with Dark Sword-grass whether it now breeds here or not, but for the most part I suspect these will still be migrants. I had one too on the night of the 30th, the first since April. There are other common species which are resident as well as being backed up by migration, Turnip is one which springs to mind.
