Two MV lights run in Bernwood Forest, Bucks for three hours last night showed even more of an improvement with 36 species seen, including Great Prominent which has suddenly burst into life (58 of them turned up between the two traps). Amongst the other new-for-year species were Syndemis musculana, Scalloped Hook-tip, Red Twin-spot Carpet, Grey Pine Carpet, Spruce Carpet, Ochreous Pug, Pale Prominent, Orange Footman, Flame Shoulder, Pine Beauty & Pale Pinion. Hopefully some of these will fight their way past the bat combat air patrol and into the trap here at Westcott soon. The garden is still lagging behind at the moment - the only new species last night was Least Black Arches.
