Dichrorampha?

Puzzled with this one. I think it might possibly be a Dichrorampha species but can't find a good match. It's got the little black dots in the termen area but lacks a costal fold.

I've also got a nagging feeling I've missed something  . . .

Help appreciated.

Thanks,
Nigel

  1. Hi Nigel,
That's an odd-looking moth. I think you must be in the correct area with Dichrorampha and if you squint hard at your second image there's a feint outline of a dorsal blotch which might suggest vancouverana. I would have sent that one to Peter!

  2. Thanks Dave, your powers of squint are obviously much better than mine! Oddly when I looked at it again, just before release, there was a costal fold but only on one side. Not present when I photographed it as I did both sides.

  3. With the costal fold, I think I'm correct in saying that only males of some Dichrorampha species have them. Perhaps your moth was even more odd than we thought!!
