Look what the wind just blew in...

In the Burial Park trap this morning after last night's storm, a Gypsy Moth and an Oncocera semirubella!

Also NFY Four-spotted Footman, Scalloped Hook-tip and Pine Hawk-moth.

Plus can anyone suggest an id for this?

  1. Hi Dave,
Your unidentified micro is Cydia splendana. Both that and Oncocera semirubella were new for the garden year list out here too last night, but I still await a Gypsy. Semirubella would seem to be a long way from typical habitat in Westcott but it is the third I've had here after singletons in 2016 & 2017. Nice to see such a lovely moth spreading out!

  2. Thanks Dave. We were trying to work out where the semirubella would have come from around here and into the middle of a woodland too!
