Dave's recent post reflected the typical moths that are appearing in large numbers in my garden here in Longwick also - (minus all his good stuff!). However last night delivered 147 Setaceous Hebrew Character to the one MV trap . Is anyone else experiencing that kind of volume? Fascinating to wonder whether these happenings are broad front or actually a response to local situations?
Hi Andrew,
ReplyDeleteWhile there's been little change to the number of species, the first two trapping sessions this month have certainly seen an increase in counts for some of them. Between the two traps here last night the winners were Setaceous Hebrew Character (61), Common Wainscot (34), Large Yellow Underwing (31), Square-spot Rustic (27) & Vine's Rustic (25). So not quite the same volume of Setaceous Hebrew Characters as you got but certainly a notable increase which I suspect others will have found too.
