When Dave, Rob and I trapped at COAM (The Open-air Museum in Chalfont St Giles, Bucks) on Friday we came up with this moth:
Our first and probably second impressions were Poplar Kitten, but then we became unsure and thought maybe Sallow Kitten. Any opinions from any of you would be valued. It is retained.
An indication of size would help, as the Poplar Kitten is a bigger animal but this looks like a Sallow Kitten. I'm trying to add the series to the Dissection website, and as you contribute to that, perhaps you could use this one? I have a female lined up and a male Alder Kitten. Still looking for Poplar.

ReplyDeleteSorry, Peter, forgot to put the size in. It was forewing 18mm, exactly at crossover-point between Poplar and Sallow.
